Below are a few critical stories from this week’s news in the Democratic Republic of Congo:
- Félix Tshisekedi’s former security chief, François Beya, arrested on suspicion of plotting a coup d’état. Others suspect he may simply have been too close to former President Joseph Kabila. He is being replaced by an ally of the current president.
- Two National Deputies who have voiced opposition to the État de Siège in Ituri and North Kivu were also arrested this week. Josué Mufula was later released.
- International Court of Justice rules in favor of DR Congo, orders Uganda to pay 325 million for crimes committed during the second Congo War.

- The EAC Council has approved DRC’s entry into the East African Community. East African Heads of State will now vote whether or not to formally grant DRC’s admission during their next meeting.
