The 5 Things to Know Today – 3 November 2026

1. Sexual-violence care obstructed in FRN-held North Kivu

MSF says de facto FRN authorities have pressed health facilities to require police reporting and intrusive examinations before survivors receive care. At some MSF-supported facilities, the number seeking care in August was 41 percent lower than in January; the organization also says consultation entries have been erased from records.

2. Ten bodies found near Mangadi

Ten bodies were found near Mangadi in Ituri’s Mambasa territory. A local chief blamed the ADF, though the circumstances of the deaths remain unclear. Separate reports describe at least nine abductions near Mambasa mining sites and further displacement along the Ituri–North Kivu border.

3. Ebola response short of transport, funds and water

Mambasa’s health zone has gone three months without operating funds and has one vehicle and one hearse for Ebola-related safe burials. At Bunia’s ISP displacement site, residents lack adequate water and handwashing facilities.

4. Suspected cholera cases jump in Itebero

Itebero health zone in North Kivu recorded 273 suspected cholera cases and 17 deaths in the latest reported week, up from 167 suspected cases and 12 deaths the week before.

5. Storm destroys more than 2,000 homes in Walungu

Heavy rain and hail destroyed more than 2,000 homes and damaged fields in Izege, South Kivu. A local official estimates that crop losses put about 53,000 residents at risk of food shortages.
